The Gesellschaft für Fantastikforschung e.V. (GFF) is an academic society which has set itself the task of promoting scientific research into the fantastic in art, literature and culture in German-speaking countries. Moreover, we publish an online journal ( Academic Journal) to which our members can contribute in order to further a broader scientific and cultural understanding of the fantastic. Additionally, we annually host a conference annual meeting at different venues. The GFF is interdisciplinary and has set itself the goal of providing a forum for the discussion of the fantastic as a cultural practice and text that goes beyond specific subjects. The fantastic is understood as a generic term that includes horror and the gothic, utopias, science fiction, fantasy and speculative fiction,as well as fairy tales, fables and myths. The GFF considers all forms fantastic as equal with regard to media, modality and methodology and promotes work from a wide variety of disciplines. A special focus of the society is the promotion of young researchers.
