Invitation to the annual conference 2011

Dear colleagues,

We cordially invite you to our conference EUROFAN: New Directions in Post-Cold War European Fantastic (29 Sept - 1 Oct).

We won Mark Bould, Edward James, Roger Luckhurst, Frans Mäyra, Brian Stableford and Marleen S. Barr as keynote speakers and invited the author Markus Orths. In addition to a wealth of interesting papers on post-Cold War fantasy, there will be an open track to include other exciting topics in the discussion. There will also be a teacher's workshop and several Salzburg cultural institutions will be involved with various events at the conference.

In addition to the 1-hour keynotes, there will be 3 papers in each section, each 20 minutes plus 10 minutes of discussion.

The conference will take place in one of the most spectacular buildings in Salzburg - the new faculty building of the Faculty of Cultural and Social Sciences - our Crystal Palace, which will not open until October. Parts of the conferences can therefore still take place in the old faculty building right next door. Following the theme of the conference, we literally cross a historical threshold from the past into a new future!

Pass on the information about our conference! We hope to welcome many members of the Society for Fantasy Research in Salzburg as participants and look forward to all future members!

The conference starts on Thursday at 13.00 p.m., before that there is the opportunity to take part in a teacher workshop (from 9.00 a.m.) and ends on Saturday evening.

Attached you will find the registration form, which we kindly ask you to submit by May 31st gabriele.scheffenacker@sbg.ac.at  so that we can take care of administrative matters before the faculty move in the summer, and a list of selected hotels. Bookings should be made as soon as possible, as Salzburg is visited by many tourists at any time of the year.
